Architectural Technical Support Engineer

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Technical Support & Quality Assurance, the Architectural Technical Support Engineer will be part of the Technical Support team. This team is responsible for supporting various stakeholders during their design with the use of the various Norbec products and solutions.

The engineer will be responsible for handling medium-high complexity technical requests specific to the building envelope. These requests require the development of appropriate tools or project-specific calculations. The incumbent must also participate in the creation of training content and develop their expertise specific to the company’s products.

Main collaborators: Production, Design, Customer Service, Estimating, Project Management, Representatives // Architects, External Engineers, Specialized Contractors.

  • Job Responsibilities
  • Design functional architectural assembly details that meet building code requirements
  • Perform various engineering calculations
  • Participating in innovation upstream
  • Ensure compliance of the solutions/products developed with current building codes (CNBC / IBC)
  • Maintain up-to-date level of knowledge of one’s duties
  • Participate in various product design meetings (design review)
  • Answer technical questions using the various engineering tools developed
  • Create calculation tools to speed up the processing of technical support requests
  • Technical Content Creation
  • Respond to certain internal technical requests (review of specific details, ad hoc or standardized)
  • Preparing Thermal Simulations

Education and experience required

  • BAC Mechanical, Industrial, Building or equiv.
  • Experience – 0-5 years
  • Experience in the field of construction (Asset)

Key skills required

  • Computer knowledge
  • Reading plans and specifications
  • Autocad proficiency
  • Mastery of 3D modeling software (Inventor asset)
  • Office Suite Knowledge
  • Jira Knowledge (Asset)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint (Asset)
  • Epicor Knowledge (Asset)

Starting salary : 67,000$ annually.
