RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO THE POSITION

  • Complete equipment purchase and maintenance projects according to the priorities established in the strategic plan and within the prescribed deadlines;
  • Participate in the design process;
  • Ensure the conformity of the equipment/facilities with the various required standards;
  • Ensure the involvement of the different departments (production, sales, design, marketing) in the projects;
  • Support the group’s maintenance and technical teams in the operation and maintenance of equipment;
  • Advise and support the teams of the different manufacturing sectors in achieving operational objectives;
  • See to the layout and configuration of production cells while ensuring safety and operational efficiency;
  • Act as a change agent to facilitate the transformation of methods and culture through communications and sustained coaching;
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through analysis of data and manufacturing processes.

JOB RELATED DUTIES

  • Coordinate capital projects to meet operational requirements and ensure long-term reliability of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Depending on the type of project, determine the appropriate project management tools and methods
  • Establish and maintain up-to-date schedules for the various project stakeholders
  • Ensure the follow-up of the project costs in order to establish a return on investment calculation throughout the project
  • Participate in various product and/or process improvement projects in order to improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs
  • The Plant Engineering Project Manager may have engineering interns to mentor and supervise when necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Key Competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Reading plans and specifications
  • Ability to perform various engineering calculations
  • Knowledge of various project management tools
  • Bilingualism in both spoken and written French and English
  • Ability to manage change
  • Technical expertise in the sheet metal industry (asset)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite such as databases, spreadsheets and applications
  • PMP certification an asset

Professional profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or automation engineering or equivalent
  • Approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management
  • Minimum experience in project management (an asset)
  • Member in good standing with the OIQ or in the process of obtaining it (an asset)
  • PMP certification (an asset)
