Project Manager – Tactical Product Development
POSITION SUMMARY
In a context where innovation is an integral part of the company’s success, where continuous improvement, initiative and teamwork are strongly encouraged, the Project Manager – Tactical Product Development must carry out various projects related to the improvement of the product line offered by Norbec Group, including: the integration of new components, review of existing designs in order to increase manufacturing efficiency, optimization (performance, simplification) of existing products for both divisions: cold rooms and architectural panels.
The Project Manager – Tactical Product Development works in conjunction with the Innovation team, the Estimating/Sales team, the Marketing team, the Purchasing team, the Design team and the Production team.
RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO THE POSITION
- Complete existing product improvement projects according to the priorities established in the Product Development Plan and within the prescribed deadlines
- Participate in the ideation process
- Ensure product compliance with Canadian and American building codes
- Ensure product compliance with various standards such as: CSA, UL/ULC, NSF, CFIA,
- Ensure the involvement of the different departments (production, sales, design, marketing) in the innovation projects
- Report the progress of projects to team members and management
FUNCTIONS RELATED TO THE POSITION
- Evaluate, prioritize and set objectives for incoming project requests
- Coordinate design projects and new product implementations with the sales, marketing, design and production teams to identify possible constraints and find appropriate solutions
- Establish and execute test plans related to the validation of new components
- Depending on the type of project, determine the appropriate project management tools and methods
- Establish and maintain schedules according to the various project stakeholders
- Ensure the follow-up of the project costs in order to establish a return on investment calculation throughout the project
- Participate in various product and/or process improvement projects in order to improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs
- Accompany the integration of the project into production
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Key competencies
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Reading of plans and specifications
- Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor & Autocad are assets)
- Mastery of the Office suite
- Knowledge of various project management tools
- Knowledge of machining and rapid prototyping methods
- Bilingualism in both spoken and written French and English

Professional profile
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering
- Two years experience in the manufacturing sector related to construction materials (an asset)
- Minimum experience in R&D project management (an asset)
- Member in good standing with the OIQ or in the process of obtaining it (an asset)
- PMP certification (an asset)
