Collaboration on the Job

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the successful candidate will be trained to successfully identify building envelope and industrial projects while providing technical expertise and project support directly or indirectly through their team. The objective will be to lead a team of dedicated technical sales managers, while playing a role in promoting Norbec’s insulated metal panel and door solutions for projects in the building envelope, food processing, horticulture and cold storage sectors. Typical projects are the result of specification efforts at the design stage and/or bids won by Norbec customers.

This position is based in the greater Montreal area, but daily duties can be performed in the comfort of your own home. Overnight travel is sporadic as most activities take place in the Montreal or Quebec City areas. There will be quarterly travel to the Atlantic Provinces and occasional travel to industry events such as trade shows.

Key Competencies:

  • Lead our team of Technical Sales Managers in the territory while playing a “more hands on” role specifically in the building envelope sector in the province of Quebec;
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with customers that will generate revenue for the company;
  • Promote Norbec’s insulated metal panel and door solutions in your territory and for designated project types;
  • Promote Norbec’s product offering to secure our position at the design stage as a named specification with architects, consultants, engineers, designers, specifiers and end users;
  • Participate and/or arrange meetings with architects/consultants to promote Norbec and get our products specified;
  • Recognize and convert specification opportunities into sales potential for our company;
  • Meet the needs of specifiers, architects, designers, engineers and end users to generate business and become their preferred resource when our solution is applicable;
  • Support our estimating, project management, planning, finance, and marketing teams;
  • Achieve sales goals by taking the necessary actions to achieve growth and maximize profitability;
  • Resolve problems as they arise;
  • Report on activities through regular meetings.

Education and experience needed to be successful in this role

  • 7-10 years of experience with a manufacturer of building products related to building envelope, food processing or cold storage applications;
  • Degree in project management, estimating, building construction, building science, architecture or equivalent;
  • Sales experience in commercial/industrial construction is an asset;
  • Experience in managing specification activities is an asset;
  • Knowledge of insulated metal panel products preferred;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and blueprint reading is an asset;
  • Understanding of the relationship between owner/architect/consultant/engineering firms/general contractor/subcontractor installers.
