Norbec is growing! We’re looking for a Process and Quality Technician to join our production team at our new, state-of-the-art facility in Strathroy, Ontario.
As a leader in manufacturing walk-in coolers, freezers, and insulated panels, Norbec is known for innovation and quality.

In this key role, you will be responsible for meeting efficiency and quality standards in all stages of the process, verifying and ensuring the quality of raw materials (chemical and steel). He will have to maintain and improve the quality of finished products, carry out process audits, manage residual hazardous materials (RDM) and support environmental improvement efforts. In addition, this person will have to support and monitor the 5S of the production line as well as the laboratory in addition to applying and respecting OHS policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform physical and chemical tests of the products and raw materials received;
  • Maintain and improve the quality of finished products;
  • Support managers during technical problems on the production line;
  • Validate the certificates of analysis of the products received;
  • Make rounds and validate the quality at each injection and saw start;
  • Validate the dimensional specifications and visual condition of the foam for the current and finished product;
  • Track test results performed by production line employees;
  • Lead process adjustments to find best quality standard for products;
  • Perform recipe audits on the production line and complete the quality technician’s report;
  • Follow up and issue quality alerts in the laboratory and on the production line;
  • Participate in the execution of tests of new raw materials and/or products in the plant;
  • Conduct a monthly inventory of residual hazardous materials (RDM);
  • Conduct audits of the disposal of residual hazardous materials (identification, labelling and location);
  • Update laboratory databases;
  • Follow up on production and discharge indicators;
  • Train operators in proper procedures if necessary;
  • Support and monitor the 5S of the production line and laboratory.
  • Maintain and report finished goods quality
  • Support standardization of process and product quality
  • Participate in changes for improving quality and process efficiencies with support from production and maintenance as required.

Education and Experience Required

  • College degree in the following fields: quality, production, chemical or mechanical;
  • 1 year of plant experience in any of the listed areas.

Key skills Required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows;
  • Comfortable working with computers and other electronic devices;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Effective communication abilities;
  • Good priority management and organizational skills;
  • Resourceful, team-oriented, and collaborative;
  • Autonomous, detail-oriented, and rigorous.
