A combination refrigeration performance and space optimization project.
As part of its pan-Canadian expansion, Congebec has recently opened a brand-new cold storage facility in Mascouche, Quebec, offering more than 9 million cubic feet of space. This is the company’s first new facility in the province in over 10 years. The project supports the growing needs of food producers and processors while strengthening supply chain resilience.
A state-of-the-art design to optimize cold storage operations
Located on a 900,000 sq. ft. site, this 219,000 sq. ft. facility offers optimized storage capacity with 50 feet of clear height, enabling maximized vertical storage. Equipped with 30 refrigerated loading docks, the building operates using a CO₂ refrigeration system, a natural refrigerant that ensures efficient temperature control.
A custom-designed building envelope for high thermal performance
As a supplier of the complete building envelope, Norbec’s insulated metal panels (IMPs) ensure optimum thermal performance. The IMPs ensure consistent temperature control—critical in the frozen food industry—while meeting the highest standards for insulation and energy efficiency.
Strong coordination between refrigeration and construction experts
The project was led by Sina Construction as the general contractor, working with several specialized experts in the industrial and agri-food sectors. Norbec collaborated closely with the site teams to meet tight delivery schedules, cold chain requirements, and sustainability goals.
